 Job Function:

  • To conduct the audits of specific areas assigned to him of the clients of the Firm, and report to the Supervisor/Audit Senior of any issues identified during the course of the audit, as well as ensuring that the work is done in accordance with the BDO Audit Methodology

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Apply appropriate accounting principles and auditing standards to reach and support conclusions related to assigned areas
  • Effectively and proactively utilise basic capabilities of audit technology tools and other firm standard technologies to perform and document work in assigned areas
  • Prepare internal written documents clearly and concisely, incorporating proper punctuation and correct usage of grammar
  • Obtain needed information from available client data and conduct appropriate client data analysis
  • Review client practices within an assigned area of responsibility and refer possible problems and solutions to team leader quickly
  • Keep team manager informed of progress
  • Monitor own time against budget and inform team Supervisor of potential variances on a timely basis
  • Take ownership of personal career development (e.g. actively contribute to setting objectives)
  • Assess own performance, seek and incorporate feedback from supervisors and team members
  • Proactively suggest ways to improve own performance/approach to work and client service delivery
  • Communicate ideas/opinions and information to the audit team and listen/respond to other team member’s views
  • Keep current on industry trends affecting clients (e.g. read trade journals)
  • Develop understanding of service offerings within and across lines of service to identify opportunities to meet client needs
  • Demonstrate awareness of firm’s risk management policies and procedures by identifying independence and conflict issues to team supervisor and/or in-charge, and consult with them when variances to standard practices are encountered
  • Any other task reasonably assigned to the staff member and within their skill set

Personal Specifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor degree in Accounting or Finance related subject (or equivalent accounting qualification - AAT) BDO - Job Descriptions and Competency Manual Page 25
  • Good communication skills – both written and oral English (knowledge of Arabic will be an advantage)
  • Proactive with staff and clients and able to work under pressure to meet client expectations and deadlines
  • Proactive in improving their skills through training
  • Proactive in working towards a professional qualification (CA, CPA or ACCA)
  • Represent the Firm in a professional manner at all times through punctuality, appearance and presentation
